Picture Books Perfect for Gifting

Dear Girl by Amy Krouse Rosenthal

This book is written in letter format reminding young readers how valuable and important they are. This is a must read and could easily be enjoyed by the whole family (not just specifically for girls).

Dear Boy by Amy Krouse Rosenthal

This is the same style book as "Dear Girl" but modified slightly with the pictures and phrases used. Its very empowering and uplifting. Another must have for your home! Just like "Dear Girl", this could also be enjoyed by the whole family and doesn't have to be specifically read to boys only.

Princesses Wear Pants by Savannah Guthrie and Allison Oppenheim

This book is about the fun adventures Princess Penelope has around her kingdom. She is too busy with her daily activities to be forced to wear sparkly princess dresses, and chooses to wear what makes her feel comfortable. This is a fun one for the princess fan in your home.

Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle

This is a great book about lending a hand even when the other person who needs help isn't always the nicest. Little Blue Truck shows the meaning of a good friend and the rhyming pattern of the book makes it fun to read out loud to your kids.

I Am Enough by Grace Byers

This book is all about respecting other's differences and loving who you are. It's another must read to help children feel empowered and proud of who they are!

I Love You, Stinky Face by Lisa McCourt

This silly book is about a little boy who gives his mom a bunch of random "what if" scenarios to see if she will still love him. Of course, the answer is always yes. This is a cute book that will make your kids giggle!

The Girl Who Never Makes Mistakes by Mark Pets and Gary Rubinstein

The main character in this book never makes mistakes! When she (spoiler alert!) eventually does make one, she is able to see that making mistakes is something we can learn from and that it's ok to make mistakes. This is a great book for any kids you have that might not like to try new things in fear of making mistakes.

Diggersaurs by Michael Whaite

This is the perfect book for construction loving or dinosaur loving kids! All the construction vehicles on each page are shaped like dinosaurs and each page features a different colored "diggersaur". This book is a cute one and don't be surprised if you are asked to read it on repeat!

The Name Jar by Yangsook Choi

This is a heartwarming story about a girl from Korea who is new in school and wants to change her traditional name to a more American one to try and fit in. During the story she comes to realize how special her own name really is and why she shouldn't try to change herself just to fit in. This story can lead to some great discussions with your kids at home or even in a classroom setting.

Press Here by Herve Tullet

This book is SUPER unique and fun! The book instructs the reader to do different actions to the dots inside the pages such as press them, tilt the book, shake the book, etc. Each time you turn the page the dots will have done something new like changed in size or color. It is fun for all ages and really helps kids use their imagination. It even comes in a board book option so your littlest readers can join the fun. Don't miss out on this one!

Spending time reading with your kids at home is so important for their literacy skills. Hopefully some of these book titles are new to you and you can add them to your book collection at home. They would make great holiday gifts or even birthday gifts throughout the year. Happy reading!
