Free Earth Day Printables for Kids: 7 Fun & Easy Activities

Earth Day is such a fun opportunity to get kids thinking about simple ways they can take care of our planet. And, as always, I’m a big fan of activities that are easy to set up and don’t require a million supplies.

So I put together a FREE Earth Day Printable Pack for Kids with 7 simple activities you can print and use at home, in the classroom, or anywhere you’re celebrating Earth Day!

There’s a little bit of everything in this pack—coloring, counting, writing, sorting, getting outside, and even a fun Earth Day challenge. You can print the whole pack or just choose the activities that work best for your kids.

What's Included in the Free Earth Day Printable Pack?

This free download includes 7 Earth Day activities for kids. I wanted to include a mix of activities so there would be options for different ages, interests, and settings.

Most of them require nothing more than the printable and some crayons or markers. For the sorting activity, you'll also need scissors and glue.

Here’s a closer look at everything included!

1. Earth Day Scavenger Hunt

This might be my favorite one because it gets kids outside!

Kids can take their Earth Day scavenger hunt outside and look for things like a flower, a bird, something growing, something green, something that needs water to live, and even a piece of litter they can safely pick up.

There are 12 things to find, with a box kids can check as they go.

I love this one for Earth Day because it gets kids actually looking at the world around them instead of just completing another worksheet.

2. My Earth Day Promise

The My Earth Day Promise printable gives kids a chance to think about something they can do to help take care of our planet.

They can finish the sentence, “This Earth Day, I promise to help our planet by…” and then draw a picture of their idea.

This would be such a cute Earth Day classroom activity, especially if you displayed everyone's promises afterward!

3. I Can Help the Earth

Sometimes “helping the Earth” can feel like a really big idea to kids, so this page breaks it down into six things they can actually understand and do.

Kids will see simple ideas like turning off the lights, recycling, saving water, using a reusable water bottle, picking up litter, and taking care of nature.

You can use this as an activity on its own or as a starting point for talking about simple ways kids can help the Earth.

4. Earth Day Color by Number

You know I had to include an easy coloring activity!

The Earth Day color by number has a big, happy Earth plus flowers, hearts, and a sun for kids to color using the color key.

This is one of those super easy activities you can print and set out with crayons when you need something that requires basically zero prep.

5. Earth Day Sort It Out

This one adds a little cutting and glueing.

Kids cut out the pictures at the bottom of the page and decide whether each item belongs in recycle, trash, or compost.

There are familiar items like a plastic bottle, apple core, cardboard box, banana peel, soda can, leaves, newspaper, paper towel, glass jar, and pizza crust.

It's a simple hands-on way to introduce the idea that not everything we throw away goes in the same place.

6. Earth Day I Spy

My kids have always loved I Spy activities, so of course I wanted one in this pack!

The Earth Day I Spy printable is filled with cute Earth Day pictures. Kids search for each item, count how many they can find, and write the number in the box at the bottom.

They’ll be looking for Earths, trees, flowers, suns, leaves, water drops, recycling symbols, and hearts.

This one sneaks in a little counting practice while still feeling like a game.

7. Earth Day Challenge

Finally, there's an Earth Day Challenge with 10 simple things kids can actually try.

The challenges include things like picking up litter, using a reusable water bottle, recycling something at home, using both sides of a piece of paper, spending time outside, and telling someone one way they can help take care of the Earth.

Kids can check off each challenge as they complete it. You could do them all on Earth Day or spread them out over a few days!

Easy Earth Day Activities for Home or the Classroom

One of my favorite things about this printable pack is that you really don't need to plan anything elaborate.

You can use these printables for Earth Day at home, classroom centers, homeschool, morning work, early finishers, after-school activities, or just an easy screen-free activity.

If you want to turn them into more of an Earth Day celebration, start with the scavenger hunt outside, come back in for the sorting or I Spy activity, and then have kids choose an Earth Day promise or challenge they want to complete.

Or don't make it complicated at all! Print one page, put out some crayons, and call it good. 😂
